The development and progress in various
fields all over the world are very fast. Rapid urbanization,
industrialization, exploitation of natural resources has given
rise to serious environmental problems. Hence to control all kinds
of pollution, conservation and preservation of resources;
Environmental Engineering provides the solution and ensures the
better conditions of living.
Environmental Engineering is the
application of science and engineering principles to improve the
Environment (air, water, and/or land resources), to provide
healthy water, air, and land for human habitation, for other
organisms and to remediate polluted sites.
Environmental
Engineering encompasses the areas of Basic Sciences, Remote
sensing-GIS, Ecology, Environmental Chemo-dynamics, Energy, Water
supply & treatment, Waste water treatment; Design of systems for
both, Green Building, Urban and Rural Planning, Air pollution and
control, Solid and Hazardous waste management, Noise pollution and
control, Industrial waste treatment, Advanced water & waste
treatment, Environment Impact Assessment, Planning & Management,
EMS, Industrial Health & Safety, Environment Policies &
Legislation etc.
Environmental Engineering involves
recycling & reuse of wastes, waste disposal and public health
issues also. It also includes studies on the environmental impact
of proposed development projects.
Environmental Engineers conduct Biomedical
waste as well as Hazardous-waste management studies, its
hazards,
to evaluate the effects of such hazards,
advice on treatment & containment and develop regulations to
prevent mishaps.
Environmental
Engineers also design municipal water supply and industrial
wastewater treatment systems as well as concerned with local and
worldwide Environmental issues such as the effects of Green House
& Global warming, Acid rain, Ozone depletion, Desertification, Air
pollution from automobile exhausts and industrial sources. The
emphasis is given on study of all kinds of pollution,
interpretation of its effect, design of control systems along with
Env policies & legislation, Industrial Health & Safety etc.
