KIT’s Department of Civil Engineering came in to inception in the year 1988-89. This Branch of Engineering is one of the core branch of Engineering and is also the college’s core department having an intake capacity of 30 students per year. A New separate Bldg. of nearly 6000 stf. additionally has been constructed in the last academic year.

Civil Engg. Department has a strong Team of Teacher’s and mentors, most of them having PG qualifications and varied experiences. The Department besides “Teaching” activities also is involved in various revenue generation, social causes and awareness developing works not only for the college, but also for the society large. For these, the budding students are also involved, which helps them largely in their all round development.

Some of the notable contributions by this dept. are:-

	Reinvestigation of “Mahalaxmi Kiranotsav” obstacles finding and conclusion by collecting temporal and spatial data.
	R.&D. work of investigating the cause of Temperature Rise inside the Mahalaxmi Temple.
	Revenue generation by consultancy work in material testing of cement, sand, aggregates, concrete and all other building construction items.
	Use of ultra modern equipments like “Total Station” in surveying works.
	Guidance to engineer for higher studies such as MPSC exams, Gate through study circle.
	Nature “Flora & Fauna” preservation through student & society activities, rallies seminars, slide shows etc.

All the above contributions, has been possible through active involvement of our students from second year to final year. Therefore a realistic hands on training & practical exposure has constantly enriched the student’s understanding of Technical aspects and their socio-economic impacts as well.
The dept has been selected by institute of Engineers for conducting Lab. Experiments for AMIE students.
The Dept of Civil Engg., has been taking large strides every Year with many important achievements and contributions.

The Dept.has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for 3 years and has acquired New Bldg space of nearly 600 stf. Additional Lab.Equipments and accessories worth Rs.3-4 lakhs has been added last year.

A gaint stride towards Campus placement has been done by almost 19 of the 34 students being place in prestigious companies of pune, Kolhapur & Mumbai,with salaries ranging from Rs.6000-10000/- for trainee engineers. Beside already 3 students among them have excelled in Gate Examination; with one of them being placed in one of the Most Renowned Institutions, IIT,Mumbai.

Besides the above achievements the college faculty & students have been active again this year as well in some of the following activities:-

	Surveying work by Total station Equipment for Irrigation Dept,and other govt. Agencies.
	Technical Expert work for the Mahalaxmi Mandir both for the ‘Kirnotsav’ phenomena as well as for the Temperature Measurement and marble removing work as a consequences of the findings of the observation.
	Concrete Mix Design and other consultancy work in the laboratories.
	Non Destructive Testing work by use of Ultrasonic Equipments and Schmidt’s Hammer Test.
	Working as Gramhasevak’s in the village Dhanoli for the Upliftment of the rural folk.
	Organizing flood affected Shirol Village.

The Civil Engg. Faculty has encouraged all such activities and also helped to boost the moral of the students in all co-curricular & extra-curricular activities.
