M.E. BIOCHEMICAL ENGINEERING AND BIOTECHNOLOGY

Biotechnology is the multi-disciplinary frontier area of science with tremendous potential to address the needs of human society in health care, agriculture, environment and industry. Biotechnology has made a significant impact on Agriculture, Bio-Industry, pharmaceuticals and Medical science in the last five decades. It is knowledge intensive field and requires specialized, highly skilled human resource to conduct research, ensure its application and generate commercial enterprises. Some of the newer like environmental Biotechnology,  proteomics/Genomics, Molecular Genetics, Biosafety, Industrial Biotechnology, Drug designing, IPR and patenting in biotechnology need attention in the coming years. Biotechnology is the combination of techniques and knowledge of Biology and Chemistry-specially bioengineering chemistry which includes biochemical engineering and other physical science.

§   The course is designed to cover areas of biochemical engineering, food technology, Advanced genetic engineering, Advanced protein engineering, Enzyme technology, Animal and plant Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.

§   The faculty will comprise of experts from industries and research institutes.

§   The programme equips its graduates to meet challenges in biotech industries, while at the same time preparing them for research in frontier areas of Biotechnology.
